Calculate median by group

I have two tables, Table1 has the metric and Table2 has the dimension I want to filter by. They are connected by a key. I want to:

• In a table show two columns:
  • Column 1: Group by dimension
  • Column 2: Median of metric for group
• Take each of those medians by group and use them in another formula as well.

I'm not very experienced with Power BI so any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,

Drag the Dimesnion from Table 2 to the visual and write this measure

=MEDIAN(table1[metric])

There should be a relationship between the 2 Tables.

Which relationship do the Table 1 and Table 2 have?

If they have a one to one relationship, you could create a measure in Table2 

Measure = CALCULATE(MEDIAN(table1[metric]),ALLEXCEPT(table2,table2[group]))
