CTRL_Click Visual Filtering No Longer Works in April 2025 Update

Hi everyone,

Since updating to Power BI Desktop Version: 2.142.928.0 (April 2025), I’ve noticed that CTRL+Click no longer works to cumulatively filter visuals on the same report page.

This issue occurs across all my reports — including ones I’ve used for months where this feature worked perfectly before. Now, when I press CTRL and try to select multiple values across visuals:

  • The selection resets the previous filter, instead of applying a second filter.
  • It’s not a visual interaction setting — I’ve checked and enabled “Change default visual interaction from cross highlighting to cross filtering”, and verified all visuals allow filtering.
  • I’ve tested on new and existing reports — same issue.
  • I also uninstalled and reinstalled Power BI Desktop and rebooted my PC — no change.
  • My keyboard works fine and CTRL behaves normally in other apps (e.g., Excel, Word).
  • This appears to be a bug introduced in the April update, as everything was working fine just days ago.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround or confirmation from the Power BI team that this is being addressed?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi ccarlo90 ,

Thank you for reaching out to Micosoft Fabric community forum.

lbendlin Thank you for your quick resposne.

Thanks for bringing this up, based on your description and others reporting similar behavior, it looks like a bug introduced in the April 2025 Power BI Desktop update that breaks CTRL+Click functionality for additive filtering across visuals.

You can try a few workarounds.

    • Use Slicers
Replace clickable visuals with slicers that support multi-select.
    • Leverage Bookmarks
For static needs, bookmarks can simulate multi-state filtering scenarios.
    • Roll Back to March 2025 Version

You can try to report to Microsoft using the below link:

  • Do you have the option to reinstall an older version and test it there?
