Post PatronBookmark Navigator - Assigning distinctive Colours to different buttons upon selection
Good Morning,
I have a Bookmark Navigator on a page which has an Overlay on it so that when any button on the Navigator (linked to a different Bookmark) is clicked it shows different set of visuals on the same page:
To avoid confusion, I wish to alternate the colour so that when one Button (on the Bookmark Navigator) is clicked it will, say turn to Blue, and when the other button is click, it would for example turn Orange (rather than Blue).
Because currently whatever button is selected becomes Blue, the Viewer might easily get confused what visuals he/she is looking at which is why I want to assign a distinctive colour to each button (upon its selection).
Kindly advise.
You cannot assign different “selected” colors per button in a Bookmark Navigator. The Selected state formatting is shared across all buttons in that navigator.
Solution 1) Use individual buttons + bookmarks

Don’t use Bookmark Navigator

Create separate buttons (Button visual)

Assign each button:

Action → Bookmark → specific bookmark

Control colors via:
-
Button Fill (fixed color)
-
Or duplicate buttons:
-
“Active” version (blue)
-
“Inactive” version (grey/orange)

Solution 2) Fake the selected color with overlays
If you want to keep the Bookmark Navigator:

Create colored rectangles or shapes behind each button
-
Show/hide those shapes using the same bookmarks
-
The “selected” look comes from the shape, not the navigator

F_RehThanks a lot for this insight. It might not be prudent to remove my current Bookmark navigator to "accommodate" a solution which is inherently only to improve the cosmetic design.

Hi F_Reh ,
You can use a condittional formatting to configure the text and the background.
Create a table with a simple value 1 or 2 or if you want you can create a table with the distinct colors. If the changes between bookmarks are based on a specific filter for example you don't need to use that new table but you can use the filter of the columns.
Then on the bookmark add the specific table as a filter on the page or on the bookmark navigator for example or if you are only updating specific visuals add a slicer and select the specific value. After that just do a rule on the condittional formatting.
