Binary format in power query editor

Hello everyone,

I have some tables, where some columns has Binary format.

when i open my table in sql server management studio, I see this format:

odzelashvili1_0-1625731452372.png

but, in power query editor, this column looks like this:

odzelashvili1_1-1625731494439.png

I dont want to just change data type from binary to text, I want to see values, like it is show sql management studio.

I was told, that this binary format is base64. Any suggestions?

Thanks to you, and sorry for my bad English 🙂

P.S. I was told that we are using "Three lvl architecture" dbms, so this column is used to link other tables, which is creating automaticly.

Hi, @odzelashvili1 ;

You could use Binary.ToText([column],1) in power query ,and then Convert column with hexadecimal to decimal.

In addition, As stated in this article, this binary data type column is currently not supported in Power BI Desktop, and an idea about this issue has been submitted in this link, please vote it.

The reason i dont want to see text format is:

when i transform my binary to text, in some raws i get "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA==" this records. when i go to sql management studio, this raws has some different records, e.i "0xA4A98030E03BCED911EB99F516A36929" and "0xA4AA8030E03BCEDB11EB9AC5609556E4".
