Bar Chart Visual will not accept a column

I am trying to create a stacked bar graph in Power BI. The X-Axis is a date column and the visual accepts this.   The Y-Axis is a monetary value (called Amt) - the column is a Whole Number type. It...

or

create a new measure

= sum(Table[Amt])
