Azure map reference layer not rendering all polygons
Hi there,
- I am experiencing exactly the same issue. I have 33,755 polygons (lower layer super output areas) and some of them do not show. The data is there and it shows in mapshaper and qgis, but in azure map some are dropped? Is it because if a file is simplified, some geographies (features) are silently dropped by azure?
Yes, this is an Azure maps limitation. They are limited to 30k polygons (this is not specifically a limitation for reference layers; it appears to be for the viz itself), and there is no way to modify. MS's guidence was bacially, "don't use that many polygons".
Get started with Azure Maps Power BI visual - Microsoft Azure Maps | Microsoft Learn
Under limitations:
"
How many data points can I visualize?
This visual supports up to 30,000 data points.
"
Apparently this applies to the reference map as well as the Power BI viz itself.
