Hi all, I am a bit new in power BI and looking for some direction in solving my problem. I create a connection in Power BI desktop to Azure Analysis Services database and connect live. The report works perfectly in my Power BI desktop, then I publish it without any errors, but when I open it online I face the next error: There is no gateway to access the data source. When I open details system ask me to install on-prem gateway for my data. I can not understand why I need on-prem gateway if I connect to Azure Analysis Services database? In server name field I put server name in the next format: servername.microsoft.com

Hello @Ignatkovkir
When you connect to your SSAS model from PowerBI desktop SSAS knows that it is you connecting and that you have access. When you publish the report to the service it is PowerBI connecting to SSAS so you need to install an on prem gateway and grant that gateway access on the SSAS side.
Here is a video from Miscrosoft discussing the topic.
