Assistance Required: Heatmap in Matrix Visual for Hierarchical Levels

I have a matrix visual in Power BI with a hierarchical structure consisting of Region and State levels. I’ve applied a heatmap using conditional formatting, which displays correctly at the Region level.

However, when I expand the hierarchy to show the State level, the heatmap is applied only to the State level, and the formatting disappears for the Region level.

I would like the heatmap to remain visible for both Region and State levels simultaneously, even when the hierarchy is expanded.

Could you please guide me on how to achieve this behavior? Kindly help me get this implemented.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Hi @suriyachetty ,

To have the heatmap apply to both Region and State levels, you need to adjust a single setting. Begin by clicking on your matrix visual to select it. Next, look at the Visualizations pane and find the measure field you are using in the Values bucket. Right-click on this field, and from the context menu that appears, navigate to Conditional formatting and select the type you are using, such as Background color. In the settings window that opens, you will see a dropdown menu labeled "Apply to". Simply change the selection here from the default "Values only" to Values and totals. Once you click OK to confirm this change, the matrix will correctly display the heatmap coloring on both the aggregated Region rows and the individual State rows, even when the hierarchy is fully expanded.
