Any way to make Dimensions dynamically adjust to other filters in slicers?

Hello,

My Business Intelligence group at my company didn't like how I wasn't following a star schema, so I'm now redoing my whole report to follow the standard.

The one thing I'm finding annoying, when I previously had all of my slicers working off of the same table as my data, they were dynamic. So if I chose an individual from my "Salespeople" slicer, the "Contracts" slicer would now only display contracts related to that salesperson.

Now that I'm working with a star schema, the slicers (which are all related to dimension tables) always show every possible piece of data in that dimension. Is this how it's supposed to behave... if so, why is this considered the "better" way to do things?

I hope i explained that well!

Thanks

I think I figured this out. We have to go to the relationships of each slicer/dimension table and select "both" on the "Cross Filter Direction" option.

no but you cna fix easy. You need to go to each slicer and check the interactions: if you see that they all have the left icon highlighted that means they apply to the visual but if you see the right icon highlighted it means the visual is not affected by the slicer: Hope this helps.
