Hi,
I'm running most of our reporting via azure analysis services live connections, which is great for maintaining control but doesnt look to be great for managing across multiple envirnoments....
I'm trying to find a way to parameterise the connection depending on if i'm working in dev or promoting to prod. There doesn't seem to be a way.
I have Dev/Test/Prod AAS instances, but currently have to manually change the connection in PBI to make a report run against each one. It's too risky. I shouldn't really have to open/amend/resave a report in order to deploy it, there is a strong chance that a report will get put into production that connects to a dev/test AAS instance.
If i can't get connection strings parameterised for live connections, how can i highlight what the current connection string is on the face of the report itself?
E.G. I'm thinking something like putting a massive 'DEV' label on anything connecting to dev AAS
can i pull the connection out of dax somehow? can;t see any obvious function that will do that..
any help appreciated!
Osme
Hi @Anonymous ,
I‘m afraid the best way is to combine them into one instance, live connection mode is more limited than the other 2 modes.
Best Regards,
Kelly
