After September 2025 Upgrade. having issue with DAX table based on DirectQuery source
After Power BI Desktop auto-upgraded to September 2025 release I've noticed an issue - I wonder if anyone else has seen it and has a work-around.
My model has a DirectQuery reference to a table in an external database. It also contains a DAX table that derives its contents from that DQ query.
My Refresh button only includes "Schema" as an available option. When I click Refresh, my DAX table does not update even though the data in my back-end table has updated since the last refresh.
I think this is new behavior - but I don't have an August 2025 install of PBI around to check it.
Is this new behavior? (That DAX tables based on DirectQuery sources do not update on PBI Desktop when you click refresh), or is this a new (and undesirable) "feature" of this new release.
Does anyone have a work around so that I can get updated data in my derived table?
FYI - if I publish the PBIX to the service and schedule a refresh, the data in the DAX table does update to reflect the current contents of the back end table. its only on PBI Desktop that I cannot get updated data after the initial creation of the DAX table.

Have you tried to update the DAX table individually in Power BI desktop by editing the formula?
If this does not update the information I would post this in the issues part of the forum.

If I update the DAX in a simple way -- like add a space to "fool" PBI into thinking something changed, the data does not update.
If I make a change with substance -- like change the name of one of the columns in the derived table -- the data updates.
It seems that getting the data to update in an existing DAX-based table from a DQ source without making a change is the issue.
