Adding data source to built report

I have a built report and trying to connect a new SharePoint List data source. The new SharePoint list is the same as my current SharePoint list. In my report I have a relationship of one to many where the ID from my BLUF list is the same as the Master ID from my Details list.

I have slicers that affect the report by changing graphs based of what is selected.

Is there a way to have another list that is the same work with my current report using ID as the relationship.

Hi @kingy61422  - Yes, you can connect a new SharePoint list to your existing Power BI report and make it work seamlessly with your current slicers and visualizations by establishing relationships between the tables.

  • Go to Get Data > Online Services > SharePoint Online List.
  • Enter the URL of your SharePoint site and select the new list.
  • Load the new list into your Power BI model.
  • Confirm that the new SharePoint list has the same column names and data types as the existing list.
  • If column names or data types differ, use Power Query to rename columns and format them to match the existing list.
  • Ensure the relationship cardinality is One-to-Many or Many-to-One, depending on your data structure.
  • If your slicers are based on fields from the existing list, you can:
Create calculated columns in your new list to match any calculated columns in the existing list.
Use fields from the new list in your slicers if applicable.

Hope the above steps helps.

I'm not sure I'm following exactly, but you can add as many SharePoint list sources as you want into your model. If you're trying to relate things, it's a lot easier if you're using Lookup columns in SharePoint - they give you an ID to point to for the relationships between your lists. They point to the ID of the item in the related list on the back end when you expand them, so you can relate ID to ID.
