I have a hybrid model power bi report where one of the data source points to an existing published semantic model (EDW). I did not originally bring all the tables from this semantic model into my power bi report. Now I found out that I was missing a table and decided to add that missing table from the same semantic model. After doing so, it added the table but under a different semantic model island (EDW 2). One thing i noticed is that original semantic model had a relationship between a table in the original model and the new added table however this newly added table does not have the relationship anymore and I cannot create it since they are two data model "Islands" and considered seperate. Is there a way to simply add another table to the existing semantic model without having to destroy everything and re-add all tables from the original semantic model including the new one.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi @ezaidi, in order to add tables to an existing semantic model, which is already in DirectQuery, instead of adding a new data source you need to work on the existing one.
Go to "Transform data" ->"Data source settings"
Select the data source you need and click "Change source..."
In the dialog box select the same data source you're already connected to, it will already have checked the tables that you're connected to. Simply select other table you need and click "load". It will bring the missing tables and create connections between them (if any present in the original semantic model).
Good luck with your project! 🙂
