Good morning,
Is there a way to add more ticks on the x and y axes for a regular line/column chart in Power BI? Here is an example of a chart: is it possible to customize to add every 1 or 2 year intervals in the x-axis?
Hi @pgomez58 ,
I hope the response provided helped in resolving the issue. If you still have any questions, please let us know we are happy to address.
Regards,
Akhil.
Hi @pgomez58 ,
Circling back were you able to get the X-axis looking the way you wanted after switching to Continuous and adjusting the Min/Max? If it’s still not lining up as expected, let me know and we can try the custom date column option or explore a visual that gives more granular control.
Regards,
Akhil.
- X-axis (years): Set axis type to Categorical to show every year or use a custom year table.
- Y-axis: Manually set Minimum, Maximum, and Interval in the Format pane.
- Dual axis: Format each y-axis separately.
Hi @pgomez58 ,
Just wanted to check did switching the X-axis to Continuous and tweaking the Min/Max get you closer to the tick spacing you had in mind? If not, we can try the custom date column route or even look at a lightweight custom visual to give you exact control.
Regards,
Akhil.
Hi @pgomez58 ,
In Power BI’s default line or column charts there isn’t an option to manually set “tick every 1 or 2 years” like in Excel, but you can get close with this practical tweak.
That’s as close as you can get without moving to a custom visual like Charticulator or Deneb, which allow you to hard-code tick spacing.
Regards,
Akhil.
@pgomez58 You can add x constant lines if the x-axis is numeric or a date.
