Add/Remove columns to table based on slicer selection.

Hi,

I have 20 columns in data table. And one of the columns contains values which can be used for slicer, total distinct values for Slicer are 3. So i have 3 values that i can select from slicer.

Number of columns that needs to be displayed in table visual for each slicer is varying.

For first slicer i need to show 15 columns in table visual, For second slicer I will need to add few columns to table and remove few. Same with third slicer need to add few and remove few.

I created three book marks for this, but we need to achieve in one single page of Power BI.

Any sugesstions or references will help.

Thanks!

Here is a quick and dirty mockup PBIX file which includes the "toggling" of visuals.

"Toggling" Visuals

Hope it helps!

Hi @manalla

You can use "buttons" instead of a slicer, one for each of the values you would use in the slicer. Create 3 different visuals (adding/removing colums) and hide/show each visual in the visuals pane by linking each corresponding button per bookmark. All on the same page.

Hope that doesn't sound too confusing...

Regards,

Paul.

Hi @PaulDBrown

I am actually using Power BI Report server and not PBI Service. Realised that Book marks are still not available in PBI report server version desktop which we will start using soon.

Other than bookmarks, do we have any other way to hide/show tables or dynamically change the #of columns on display using slicers/filters?

@manalla

A7DA8911-930E-4B64-824B-7E41861B345E.jpegYou create the link for each image (it has to be an image; text boxes don’t have the option to link to bookmarks) to the corresponding bookmark in the Format Image pane. Select the image/button which will act as the “slicer”/selection and open the image format pane. Apologies since this screenshot is actually from the PBI service, but it’s the same on Desktop.

There is no toggling option. Each image is referenced to individual bookmarks where you have pre-set the visuals to be seen (by hiding the visuals not wanted for that “slicer”/selection in the selection pane) when the user clicks on the image

Sorry about the poor explanation:I’m typing this on an ipad....

let me know if you are still having problems.

Regards,

Paul..
