I am writing to report a behavior change we have observed after the latest AI Narrative update in Power BI.
Previously, we were able to reliably control formatting through the prompt. For example, we could instruct the narrative to avoid bold text and to not include footnotes tied to visuals. This was important because we use the AI Narrative output as an executive summary that is printed and shared offline.
After the recent update, the AI Narrative no longer consistently follows these instructions. Even when explicitly stated in the prompt, the narrative now reintroduces formatting we asked to avoid and includes footnotes that reference visuals. When printed, those footnotes are not useful on their own and reduce the clarity of the executive summary.
This change has impacted a workflow that was previously stable and repeatable for executive-facing reporting. We wanted to flag this as either a regression or a change in prompt-handling behavior, and to understand whether there is a supported way to fully suppress footnotes and enforce formatting rules going forward.
We wanted to follow up and ask if you have submitted a support ticket. Could you let us know if the issue was resolved after creating the support case?If you have any further questions, please let us know. we can assist you further.

Hi @Kdpederson08
Thanks for the update. Hope your issue gets resolved soon. when it does, please share the insights with the community as it can be helpful to others.

Microsoft Fabric Community Support Team.
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric community forum.
Currently, Power BI Copilot/AI Narratives do not support strictly enforcing formatting rules or fully disabling visual footnotes through prompts. Prompt instructions are treated as guidance, not guarantees, and recent updates have reduced formatting predictability. Footnotes are a built‑in behavior and cannot be suppressed via settings.
As @lbendlin suggested, you can raise a Microsoft support ticket or submitting an Ideas request so this requirement is formally tracked.
If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out and we'll be glad to assist.
