Unable to Access some sources

Hello All,

Good day!

I am getting the below error while creating a connection to Azure SQL database and Azure Analysis service :

Same error even for Azure SQL database.

But we are able to create a connection to the same Azure SQL database from Data pipelines.

So can someone help me identify the cause of this error in Dataflow only and not in Data pipeline? And what is the resolution for the same?

Hi NandanHegde  - Thanks for using Fabric Community,

As I understand you are facing some issue and unable to connect with Azure SQL database and Azure Analysis service using DataFlow.

When I tried to do a repro, I am able to connect with Azure SQL database using DataFlow.
I am attaching the screenshot for reference -

Can you please check if you provided necessary permissions inorder to access the service?

In addition, can you please share details of your authentication type?

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you have any further queries.

Hey,  As stated above; I am able to access an azure SQL DB via Data pipeline but the same DB I am unable to access via Dataflow Gen 2.
So what is the cause of that ?
I am using Org Account auth

        Hi NandanHegde ,

It looks little strange, I am able to connect perfectly when I tried using Org Account auth.
Can you please confirm did you successfully ran the copy data activity in the pipeline and able to load the data into Lakehouse?

The above error looks like some permission issue.

NandanHegde Data Pipelines and Dataflows are two different services, so they are using two different methods to acquire the tokens needed for authentication. If this only happens with Azure resources, it could be related to a firewall rule preventing the Power Query service to access the data source, so I'd suggest start by checking the firewall rules and make sure that the Power Query Online ips are listed in the allow list.

I'd still recommend opening up a ticket to get to the bottom of it.

Hi NandanHegde - Thanks for using Fabric Community.

I would like to check whether you resolved your issue or got a chance to create a support ticket.
If so, it would be a great help if you can provide the details of the Support Ticket so we can track it for further information.

      Thank you
