Hello,
My client is using OnPremise transactional systems (ERP Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and other tools) as they have a lot of web access troubles (due to their location [their factories and shops are on an island], they don't a a goog internet network).
They plan to move to Fabric for their BI (They can accept a delay if data are not up-to-date for a couple of days due to internet cut).
But they are wondering if they can use Fabric Data Factory to synchronize their OnPremise tools together too (i.e. ERP and CRM...) Here they cannot accept delays in the synchronisations in case of internet cut.
They got a proposal from Talend and Informatica to run the flows in SaaS mode by creating a local instance on their network so that the communcation can run in case of internet cut.
Do you know if we have similar technoly in Data Factory?
If not, what can Microsoft offer? SSIS?
Thanks and best regards,
Nicolas

Hi @Nicolas_DHONT ,
Microsoft Fabric Data Factory can indeed help with synchronizing on-premises tools like ERP and CRM systems. To achieve this, you can use the On-Premises Data Gateway.
This gateway allows you to securely connect your on-premises data sources to Microsoft Fabric, enabling data integration even when your systems are not directly connected to the internet.
Here are the specific steps to follow:
1. First you can download and install the gateway.
2. Set up the connection for the on-premise data source in Data Factory.
3. Finally you can connect the gateway to the Data Factory and get the data source.

Hi @v-yilong-msft ,
Thank you for your reply. I was not aware the gateway was able to run a fabric flow even if it is not able to reach Fabric service due to an internet cut. How does it work technically?
Do you have some documentation about that? (I didn't get find anything on Ms Learn regarding this topic (and my client is asking proof).
Thank you for your help!

The thing that comes to mind is Power BI Report Server. That's the on-prem equivalent of the Power BI service.
I cannot see a future for PBIRS inside Fabric though - they are kind of opposites.
