BUG::cannot delete Data destination
- 2 years ago
I think maybe I have experienced the same issue.
If I remember correctly, in order to solve this I made a duplicate of the query (right click the query name then click duplicate). The new query you are getting will be similar to the one you already have, but it should be without the Data destination.
Or, maybe I solved it by going into Advanced Editor of the original query, and copy the contents (the M code). Then I create a blank query, and open Advanced Editor of that blank query and paste the contents from my original query. This new query will be similar to the original query but without a data destination.
After creating a new query identical to your existing query (but without the data destination), you could delete your original query, if that is okay for you.
Anyway, I encourage you to create a support ticket so the support team can have a look at it. I think I also had the same issue like this sometimes.
Hi Element115
Thanks for using Fabric Community.
I tried to repro the above provided steps, but in my case the destination was not set back to Lakehouse. Hence this is not a bug. I have attached the screenshots for your reference.
When I reopened the dataflow:
Can you please try again and let us know?
Thanks.

That's very weird... it still does in my Edge browser. And for good measure, deleted all cookies for Microsoft and powerbi.com sites, logged out, closed the tab, and in a new tab, logged back in. Still, I can't delete the Data destination.

Had the same problem (in Chrome) and had to implement the same workaround: create a new dataflow and copy the query.

Is there a way I could delete the data destination from outside the UI? That is, by editing the Export.json file, but what would I remove in that file, and how do I reupload it in the proper location?

Brilliant! That sounds like it might do the trick. I'll try tomorrow. Thanks.
