hi,
what is fabric capcity referring to?
1- is it to do the amount of data we ingest into warehouse/lakehouse?
2- is it also to do with the schedule refreshes?
3- is it also to do with the amount of data power bi uses during the scheduled refreshes?
4- anything else?
thanks
Fabric Capacity is like the engine on which everything runs .
Capacities provide the computing power that drives all of these experiences. They offer a simple and unified way to scale resources to meet customer demand and can be easily increased with a SKU upgrade.
hi
still do not see if capacity relates to the amount of data held in the warehouse and lakehouse
for example, the more data to be processed and stored in the warehouse, the higher should be the capacity?
I seem to be needing to increase the capacity.
How can I find out what is causing this?
Thanks
Hi @arkiboys
Thanks for using Fabric Community.
Fabric Capacity refers to the computational resources that power all experiences in Fabric. It’s measured in Capacity Units (CUs), which quantify the compute power available for a given SKU.

Here’s how it relates to your questions:
Data Ingestion:
Yes, the capacity is related to the amount of data you ingest into the warehouse/lakehouse. The size of the capacity determines the amount of capacity throughput, measured in Capacity Unit seconds (CUs), which can impact data ingestion.

Scheduled Refreshes:
Yes, the capacity is also related to scheduled refreshes. If Fabric is turned off during low times to reduce costs, all of the dashboard schedule refreshes fail. You can monitor utilization to get the most out of your capacities.

Power BI Data Usage:
Yes, Power BI data usage during scheduled refreshes is part of the capacity. Power BI Premium customers can utilize their Power BI Premium capacity for any of the new workloads.
If you need to increase the capacity, you can scale it up in the Azure portal.

hello,
still looking into this...
I installed the metric app as you suggested but when I click on it I get exceptions for each metric : couldn't load the data for this visual
Hi @arkiboys
Here are a few things you could check:
Semantic Model Settings: Double-check your Semantic Model settings. Make sure the capacityId is correct and your account has admin rights for that capacity.
App Installation: Ensure that the app has been installed correctly. You must be a capacity admin to install and view the Microsoft Fabric Capacity Metrics app.
Data Load: There might be issues with data loading. If the data isn’t loading even after selecting the capacity, it could be due to incorrect setting.
Latest Version: Please check if you have updated to the latest version of the app.

Hi
How can I check if my account has admin right?
I checked and I am indeed an admin
Hi @arkiboys
Are you still not able to monitor the data through capacity metrics app? or is your issue resolved?
Hi @arkiboys
We haven’t heard from you on the last response and was just checking back to see if your query got resolved. Otherwise, will respond back with the more details and we will try to help.
Thanks
