Data Pipeline is not saving changes for edits to exisitng activity

Is there a reason why I can't save any new edits into an exisitng activity once added. Once I add an activity, it saves and run. But after running once I go back to the same activity nad make changes it still runs without the edits.

I need to add another dummy activity (set variable) to ensure the save is availabale again.

What exactly is the preservation you're talking about? Manually saving the pipeline by clicking the save button after making changes, rather than relying on the auto-save feature. Also sometimes, browser caching can cause problems when saving changes. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, then reloading the Data Pipeline interface. See if the suggestions as above work.
