OneLake shortcuts in source control

Hi,

I have been trying to test Git compatibility with OneLake shortcuts. I've created a Lakehouse and attempted to create both a schema shortcut and a table shortcut. However, while the Lakehouse, including the lakehouse.metadata.json file, is available in Git, I am unable to see the shortcuts.metadata.json file under the Lakehouse folder in Git, as mentioned in this article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-engineering/lakehouse-git-deployment-pipelines#onelake...

Do you have any thoughts or ideas?

Update!

We noticed that the functionality became available one day later. You need to commit the Lakehouse in your workspace; however, you’ll already see that a change has occurred in the Lakehouse. After that, save the new metadata file.

I'm also interested in this, the wiki page suggests that functionality is now in preview but it doesn't work for me and I can't see anywhere to enable the preview functionality (e.g. in fabric/tenant admin).

Hi @MK007 ,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

Please ensure that your Lakehouse is properly connected to your Git repository. Any incorrect configuration could prevent metadata files from syncing correctly.

There may occasionally be a delay in syncing metadata files to the Git repository. Wait for a brief period and check again to see if the shortcuts.metadata.json file appears. Also, verify that you have the required permissions to access all files in the Git repository. Limited permissions could result in certain metadata files being hidden.

I hope my suggestion give you good idea, if you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out.

  2. Create a Test 2 LH

Are you sure this is unleashed in West Europe?

Hi @v-tsaipranay ,

Thanks for your response. Please see my comments below:

I believe this is properly connected as my newly created Lakehouse shows up in git folder including the lakehouse.metadata.json file. Is there anything else I should check to confirm connection?
  2. There may occasionally be a delay in syncing metadata files to the Git repository. Wait for a brief period and check again to see if the shortcuts.metadata.json file appears.
It has been over 24 hours but still no shortcuts.metadata.json file.
  3. Also, verify that you have the required permissions to access all files in the Git repository. Limited permissions could result in certain metadata files being hidden.
I am able to see the lakehouse.metadata.json file in git repository. Do I need any other permission(s) view shortcuts.metadata.json file?
