Hi @margaretaak ,
We’ve hit this a couple of times with Dataflow Gen2 as well, and right now there’s actually no button or option to stop a validation once it gets stuck. The UI just keeps showing “validation in progress,” even though nothing is happening in the backend.
What worked for us was simply closing the dataflow, waiting a minute or two, and then opening it again. Fabric usually resets the validation on its own after the session times out. After that, you can continue editing or saving normally.
It’s a bit frustrating because there’s no proper cancel option yet, so we’re basically waiting for Microsoft to improve this. But for now, reopening the dataflow or refreshing the workspace is the only workaround that clears the stuck validation state.
Hope that helps.

Hi @margaretaak ,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric.
You cannot manually stop validation in Dataflow Gen2 once it starts. After clicking Publish, Fabric runs background validation with no cancel button. The only options are to check the Monitoring hub for a possible cancel action, wait for validation to finish or time out, or refresh the workspace. To prevent long validations, ensure query folding works, simplify queries, and monitor the workspace activity.
Incase if it is running for hours please do reach out to the support team for further help so they can investigate your scenario: https://support.fabric.microsoft.com/support
Hope this helps,
