Am I compatible with this career path without a background in Mathematics

Which career path are you referring to specifically — Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Power BI, Data Science, or Machine Learning?

The answer depends on the path.

 

If you mean Data Engineering, then yes, you can start without a strong mathematics background. Data Engineering is usually more focused on:

  • SQL
  • Python or PySpark basics
  • Databases
  • Data pipelines
  • Cloud platforms
  • Lakehouse and warehouse concepts
  • Data quality and orchestration

Math becomes more important if you move into Data Science, Machine Learning, or advanced statistics.

So if your goal is Data Engineering, I would focus first on the fundamentals and build small end-to-end projects. You do not need advanced mathematics to start, but logical thinking and problem solving are very important.
