It seems like you're facing an issue with your Power BI dataset not showing up in Power BI Desktop. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

  1. Check Workspace Access: Ensure that the Power BI dataset is located in a workspace to which you have access. If it's in a different workspace or someone else's workspace, you may not see it in Power BI Desktop.

  2. Data Source Configuration: Verify that the data source settings are correctly configured in your Power BI Service dataset. Check the connection string, credentials, and any other relevant settings to ensure they match the Excel file you want to connect.

  3. Refresh the Dataset: Make sure that the dataset is refreshed in Power BI Service. If it hasn't been refreshed, the changes won't appear in Power BI Desktop. You can schedule automatic refreshes or manually refresh the dataset.

  4. Check for Errors: Review the dataset in Power BI Service for any errors or warnings related to the data source connection. Resolve any issues if there are any.

  5. Version Compatibility: Ensure that your Power BI Desktop version is compatible with the version used in Power BI Service. Sometimes, using an older version of Power BI Desktop may cause compatibility issues.

  6. Check Filters and Permissions: Review any applied filters and row-level security settings in your Power BI Service dataset. They might be restricting data visibility in Power BI Desktop.

  7. Verify Workspace Membership: Confirm that you are a member of the workspace where the dataset is located. If you don't have access to the workspace, you won't be able to see the dataset in Power BI Desktop.

  8. Restart Power BI Desktop: Sometimes, simply restarting Power BI Desktop can resolve issues. Close it and open it again.

  9. Clear Cached Credentials: If you've changed your credentials for accessing the dataset, make sure to clear any cached credentials in Power BI Desktop. You can do this from the "File" menu > "Options and settings" > "Data source settings."

  10. Reconnect the Data Source: In Power BI Desktop, try to reconnect to the data source manually. Click "Get Data" and select the data source type (e.g., Excel). Browse to the location of your Excel file and select it.

  11. Update Power BI Desktop: Ensure that you're using the latest version of Power BI Desktop. Outdated versions may have bugs or compatibility issues.

  12. Check the Filters in Power BI Desktop: Double-check if any filters are applied in Power BI Desktop that might hide the data. Go to the "Filters" pane to review and remove any filters if necessary.

  13. Check Query Dependencies: Review the query dependencies in Power Query Editor to ensure that your Excel file is properly connected to the dataset.

If you've tried all of these steps and the issue still persists, it might be helpful to provide more specific details about the problem, error messages, or any recent changes you've made to the dataset or reports. This additional information can aid in diagnosing and resolving the issue more effectively.
