Year-to-date calculation with criteria yielding wrong result

Basically I'm trying to calculate the sum of acceptedwt for the year to date where sys = 1

Sys1g =
CALCULATE(1000*SUM(Statistics[acceptedwt]), Statistics[sys] =1 && YEAR(Statistics[STA_PeriodEnd]=Year(today()))

I think the filtering isn't working the way I want it to work.
Any help would be appreciated.
