Transform and Link Multi Level BOM

Hello everyone!

For now, I am working just with a regular Item Master for our product dimensions.

I have a pretty simple calculation/ measure that shows me the waste on the work order and product level.

This Item Master has the following structure:

ItemDepartmentAttribute1Attribute2Size
A1Mounting5-045500

Now I would like to add a more product granularity and provide the BOM (Bill of Material) so I can determine the measures on the parent level.

For example, item A1-A10 are the children for parent AX1.

The current BOM has the following structure:

ParentChild
AXA1

With this structure, I get the parent-child relationship.

This is a multi-level BOM. That means, that parent AX is also the child of A.

Every parent and child is included as a unique row in the Item Master (column Item).

But how should I add this new table into my data model?

Is the structure of the BOM appropriate for this purpose?

What would you suggest?
