Need some quick help. Have been struggling to fix this issue.
I have a fact table where there is a date field and Dollar field with the below details:
Date
Jan 1 2018 ($10)
Jan 2 2018 ($40)
Jan 3 2018 ($30)
Jan 4 2018 ($40)
Jan 5 2018 ($50)
Jan 1 2019 ($100)
Jan 3 2019 ($300)
Jan 5 2019 ($500)
Objective: I need to calculate YTD 2019 (Jan 1 2019 - Jan 5 2019) and YTD 2018 which is the same period last year (Jan 1 2018 - Jan 5 2018).
Tried: YTD 2019 = calculate(sum(dollar_field),datesytd(date_field) - This works fine as output is $900
YTD 2018 = calculate(sum(dollar_field),sameperiodlastyear(datesytd(date_field)) - The output here is $90 whereas it should be $150.
It seems like it scans only for the dates available in the current year i.e Jan 1,3,5 2019.
My question is how can I get the the correct YTD 2018?
Hi @kabra_ashish ,
Check your data. It didn't seem to work for me, until I keyed in my own data. Included a couple of different ways to write these with some built in time functions. Here is my PBIX YTD
Total YTD 2018 = CALCULATE([Total Sales Amount],SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR(cash[Date]))
Let me know if you have any questions.
If this solves your issues, please mark it as the solution, so that others can find it easily. Kudos are nice too.
