Plotting graphs with field parameters averages

I am using very large data sets (around 30,000 values in each data set) to plot a graph that I would like to be able to dynamically switch between the X and Y axis'. I have been able to sort out the X axis relatively easily using field parameters. However the Y axis are significantly larger data sets of numbers that can only be viewed in a scattergraph when they are set to be shown as an average. Unfortunately when i use field parameters the data does not show up and an error message is present instead

'your x- and y- values arent playing together nicely. Replace the x- values field with a numerical value, or change the y- axis field values to summarizations.'

I have already set these columns to 'average' in the summarization tab of the data view, however when using a field parameter the data set still does not show up as it does when each of the three are viewed independently.

Any suggestions and help would be much appreciated, Thanks a lot
