DAX Format

I am super new to Power BI and DAX. I have been watching a lot of videos online to learn about DAX and I wonder why do people split the DAX formula into different lines whenever they write it? What is the reason behind it?

@Anonymous , readability is the main reason.

Like I can create a new column like

Column = var _1 =1 var _2 = 2 return _1+_2

or like

Column =

    var _1 =1

    var _2 = 2

return _1+_2
