This feels like it should be very simple but I am struggling to manage this in PowerBI! I have created a very simple (inaccurate!) dataset below to illustrate what I am trying to achieve.
Say I have a dataset of:
| Country | Continent | Language | Currency | Population |
| France | Europe | French | Euro | 10,000 |
| Spain | Europe | Spanish | Euro | 20,000 |
| United Kingdom | Europe | English | Pound Sterling | 30,000 |
| USA | North America | English | US Dollar | 40,000 |
| Brazil | South America | Portugese | Real | 50,000 |
| Portugal | Europe | Portugese | Euro | 60,000 |
I want to have a front page with a text slicer, where the user is able to select one country. I then want a series of population charts on subsequent pages, broken down by the columns, filtered by the selected country's attribute for that column. In practice, if I select France on the front page, I want a chart on the next page showing population for all countries in Europe, then a chart on the next page showing the population for all French-speaking countries, then next page for all countries with the Euro, and so on...
Is there a simple way to be able to select a value on the front page, then carry that through the report but looking at that value's related values?
Thanks in advance!
Hi @NS456,
if I understand your case correct, thats exactly what you can achive by using the Power BI drillthrough feature.
The user selects a filter on page 1 and the via the drillthrough the user gets to page 2 and the selected filter from page 1 is applied in page 2.
Check out the docs for detailed information: Drillthrough in Power BI Reports: Navigate to Detailed Insights - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
