Hi Fabric Community,
I’m encountering an issue when trying to create a new Activator item while setting up an alert in Power BI.
When I open the alert creation dialog from a report and select “Create a new activator item”, I enter a name and click “Create item”, but it gets stuck indefinitely. The “Creating item” button stays greyed out and nothing progresses.
The UI shows a popup titled “Select the location of your alerts”, with options to:
Choose a workspace (Fabric-enabled)
Select or create an Activator item
Provide a name
When I click to create, the button just shows “Creating item” and stays there, unresponsive.
The workspace is Fabric-enabled.
I have Contributor permissions.
I can create Activator items successfully if I go directly to the workspace, click “New”, and then choose “Activator” manually.
This issue occurs only when trying to create the item directly from the alert dialog.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thanks in advance for your support!
HI @v-nmadadi-msft,
Thanks for your support so far. I wanted to share an important update after further testing:
When I open the Power BI report directly from the workspace, I'm able to create the Activator item via the alert dialog successfully.
This removes the possibility of browser extensions, client-side blockers, or browser issues being the cause.
However, when I open the same report through a published Power BI App, the “Create item” dialog hangs indefinitely on “Creating item...
I also noticed a chain of long-polling "subscribe" requests being sent but getting cancelled repeatedly, likely due to the missing callback execution.
It appears that this issue is specific to reports accessed via Power BI Apps
Please let me know if this is a known issue or any workarounds to fix this.
Thankyou

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
Try refreshing the browser tab and attempting the action again. If the issue persists, clear your browser’s cache and cookies, which can often resolve unexpected UI behaviour. Additionally, switching to a different browser such as using Microsoft Edge instead of Chrome or vice versa, can help determine if the issue is browser specific. You may also try accessing the report in Incognito or Private mode to rule out any conflicts caused by browser extensions or cached data.
Additionally, Press F12 in your browser to open the developer tools, then navigate to the Console tab. When you click Create item, watch for any red error messages that appear these can help identify backend or API issues that may be causing the dialog to get stuck.
I hope this information helps. Please do let us know if you have any further queries.
Thank you
