How implementing a data activator to monitor the execution of a data pipeline

Hi,

I'd like to implement a data activator in order to monitor the running of a Fabric data pipeline and, f.e., sending an email if it fails.

How could I accomplish a such task, possibly following a step by step guide?

Many thanks

Hi @pmscorca, you can set up an email alert when a pipeline fails following the steps below:

1. click on Real-time Hub, and find job events under Fabric events. Click "set alert" to define the alert.

2. click on "source" in the side pane to select the data source

3. after saving the source, return to the side pane to create and start the alert

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Using Data Activator for pipeline monitoring works, but honestly it's a bit tricky to set up—stream integration, triggers, config, all that. I would suggest going with Logic Apps or Power Automate for alerts; much simpler and more flexible. Even a basic "On fail" email activity can get the job done fast. Depends how deep you wanna go with automation.

Please provide more details/context.  Do you want to monitor the pipeline while it is running or do you want to be alerted when it has completed?

Hi, a first example of use could be to send an email when a pipeline fails.

Moreover, it could be useful to alert when a pipeline execution exceeds a specific threshold.

Thanks
