Edit Interactions Button Not Functioning with October 2017 Update

I recently upgraded from September 2017 version of Power BI Desktop (Version: 2.50.4859.782 64-bit (September, 2017)) to the October version (2.51.4885.543 64-bit (October 2017)). After update, I attempted to edit slicer interactions within a previously existing .pbix file. It appears as if I'm no longer able to edit visual interactions in October version.

My short term fix is to revert back to Sep Power BI desktop version, but please address this bug in a future release.

Here is an example of the edit interactions button active with Power BI September version. These icons are now missing in October release.

  • The bottom two slicers are put back, that's why you couldn't see the filerers on top.
if you select the bottom two slicers and click the "Send backward" buton at the top and select "Send to back". Now you should be able to see the filters properly.

    Hi MyraMa,

This is not an issue that can solved by moving the slicer to the top. Screen snapshot shown in original post was taken using September version of Power BI. Here is what happens in the October version. The Filter/ Do Not Filter icons appear to be missing.

Note that this is the exact same .pbix file being viewed in the two Power BI Desktop versions described in original post above.

The good news is that we've inadvertently resolved this issue. Here is a second screen snapshot using October version of Power BI. The difference between this screen snapshot and above is that I now have the cursor hovering over top of one of the other slicers on the screen. The Filter/ Do Not Filter icons display only on the slicer that I'm currently hovering over top of with the cursor. This is different behavior than September release (all icons display independent of where your cursor is on the screen).

  • Hi chappe,

Thanks for your further explanation. I don't think it is a bug. It is just a different behaviour from the September release, as you noticed already. I can only see the filters when I hover on that visual as well. But I quite like this new behaviour. :)

    Cheers

    Myra

I’ve reported it internally to Power BI Team to see if it is a regression issue: CRI 49838779
I’ll post here once I get any update about it.

    Best Regards,
