    Hi, DuncanYeah

For triggering mail alerts when Power BI Report Server is started and stopped, you can do so with the help of Windows scheduled tasks. Because Power BI Report server runs as a background service in your win server.

You need to use a PowerShell script to trigger this task. Happily, there are many such articles on the web, and you can refer to these two:

Step-by-Step: How to Trigger an Email Alert when a Specific Windows Service Starts or Stops on Windows Server 2016 – Clustering For Mere Mortals

Trigger Email Alert When Specific Windows Service Starts Or Stops - SIOS SANless clusters

For Power BI Report Server to trigger a message when an error is encountered, you can set up a trigger in your SQL instance:

The Report server database records all user operations or scheduled flush executions. You can use T-SQL to write trigger conditions for alerts.

For setup steps, you can refer to this tutorial below.

Set up a SQL Server database alert (Windows) - SQL Server | Microsoft Learn

      Hi Anonymous ,

      Thx for your reply.

For the error part, is it only for error in data refresh, what if the server stopped unexpectedly by some errors.

      Thank You.

      Best Regards,

      Duncan

        Hi, DuncanYeah

The service stops unexpectedly. You can refer to the first part to trigger an email notification when the Report Server encounters an error.
