Incremental Refresh/Hybrid Table archived data question

I have two many-to-many tables that I would like to change to Hybrid tables, but I'm not sure I fully understand how Incremental Refresh works. 

Currently, I have it setup like this.



My goal is to only refresh the last 9 days' worth of data; the dataset will be refreshed every 30 minutes. I also want to be able to view archived data (data older than 9 days in the report); anything newer should be the freshest data from Direct Query. My issue is that once I publish this to service, slicers on my date only go back 9 days. Am I fundamentally misunderstanding what Incremental Refresh is for?

    Hi RYU209 

     

    Because you have set your "Archive data starting" 9 days, this means it will only keep the last 9 days worth of data. Anything older than 9 days will be removed. 


    If you want data going further back change it to a longer range like 9 months?

      Hi GilbertQ ,

      I guess I fundamentally misunderstood how incremental refresh works. What is the point of bringing in data and then archiving it if it can't be accessed in the report?
