Gateway Stability Issues - v3000.338.2
Hi all,
I've been having the problem with the Oracle connector not working from the June+ versions of the gateway.
We attempted an update again yesterday using the October 2026 version which again caused the oracle connection to stop working again. We then tried the below fix I found suggested on the June release and it worked, oracle connection working again
- Go to C:\\Programa Files\\On-premises data gateway
2. edit the Microsoft.PowerBI.DataMovement.Pipeline.GatewayCore.dll.config
3. update the following:
<setting name=\"MashupFlight_DisableOracleBundledOdacProviderV2\"
serializeAs=\"String\">
<value>False (change to True)</value>
</setting>
However shortly whilst doing some final testing I noticed that the gateway status was flipping back and forth between being online and offline every few seconds, though this eventually stopped after 20 minutes and was stable again. I did some testing to see if it impacted report refreshes using the gateway and they seemed to work fine.
I've checked it again this morning and we'd had a handful of refresh failures for reports using the oracle connection on the gateway, and again it was doing the flipping back between online and offline. I manually refreshed the reports and they refreshed successfully and eventually after about 15 minutes the gateway stayed in online status.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I looked online for possible causes but none of them seemed to apply. I'm not sure if this problem is being caused by the fix that we did for the oracle connection of it's an issue with the October version of the gateway?
Kind regards,
David

Hi david_busint,
Hi,
If the gateway stability issues started after upgrading to version 3000.338.2, I would recommend checking whether the issue is related to the new gateway release before making further configuration changes.
Please try these steps:
- Restart the On-premises data gateway service and check whether the issue persists.
- Open the gateway application → Diagnostics → Export logs, and review Windows Event Viewer for gateway service errors.
- Check CPU and memory usage during refreshes, and run the gateway Network ports test.
- If you're using a gateway cluster, ensure all gateway members are running the same version.
- If everything was working before the upgrade, test a previously stable gateway version in a controlled environment. Keep the gateway recovery key available before reinstalling.
My recommendation: If the issue started immediately after upgrading and the previous version works without problems, it may indicate a regression in version 3000.338.2. In that case, raise a Microsoft Support ticket with the gateway logs, error messages and timestamps.
