Event based dataset scheduled refresh

Hi, Is it possible to check for event before the Dataset is refreshed.  The Dataset is scheduled to refresh at 9.30 AM, but some day when data load is not completed, the refresh should not start.  ...

    Hi Anonymous 

    2 ways to get this done:

    1- manually by integrating power automate to your report, Add a card with last date refresh of the source and a power automate button to trigger the refresh manually when Data load is not completed.

    2- use REST API Power BI to integrate it to the Framework of the ETL to load data and it triggers the refresh right after.

Hi. What do you mean with event before? If you have a process running before like an ETL to warehouse or data factory copying data to lake, etc. Then the best approach is orchestrating everything in one place. 

You can trigger a dataset refresh from power bi rest API. That helps you add the refresh to a different event or ochestration.

That way you can cancel the refresh if a process running before fails.
