To do this you need, as you stated you have, the start and target latitude and longitude. It would be good to have an ID field of some sort so that you can identify each route as well.
In my opinion, the best map for this is the ESRI map. This map is highly detailed. But, there is a license when you get beyond the basics. Another visual that might work is the Route Map visual. I don't think that the standard map "just works" with lines.
