Slice the slicers

The system of the database I'm working on, is a SaaS which is being used from many companies. The different companies are listed in the 'Companies' table!

I have a fact Sales table, and 3 dimension tables: Companies, Customers and Article Categories, which can be connected to the fact table. The 'Companies' table can also be connected to Customers and Article Categories dimensions (and create a snowflake schema). Due to ambiguity, Power BI allows me to activate a relationship between Companies and only one of the three tables.

I want to have Companies, Customers and Article Categories as slicers. I also want that the 'Companies' slicers, to slice the other 2 slicers when selected, and all visuals change accordingly. The point here is that when I select a company 'X', I want only the Customers and Article Categories of that company 'X' to be shown. Can anyone help?

  • Create a measure to use as a filter inthe filter pane for each slicer:

Filter = COUNTROWS (RELATEDTABLE (Sales Table))

add this measure to the filter pane for each slicer and set the value to greater or equal to 1

  • Hi Anonymous ,

Can you share a screenshot of your data model for all the above tables? What relationships have you got, etc.

    Thanks,

    Pragati

Hi Pragati11, this is the model which contains a fact table and 3 dimensions table. I want to use Companies table as a slicer which slices other dimensions: Article Categories and Customers
