Shape map driving slicer
Hi PBI community members,
I have a shape map and want that to drive a slicer. So the functionality would be:
- click on shape map
- visualisations on other pages change depending on the location selected on the map.
Basically it would mean the map would be working like a sync slicer. I don't want to use drill through. Is this possible?
Cheers,
Brent
Hi, Anonymous
I'm sorry . The slicer is a special kind of visualization. Currently, powerbi doesn't support it.
The slicer is a filter which affects other visualizations by filtering the data. This interactive effect can be saved to a file.(in your second picture).
However, other visualizations cannot influence the slicer and their interaction with other visual objects can only be seen as a highlighting behavior(in your first picture). You can see the difference if you display the data as a table.

Anonymous , Most of the power bi visual(map too ) has that functionality by default unless you switch of interactions
Are you using power bi shape map, You can do little bit of modification to add your own locations
refer if needed

Thanks amitchandak for your tips.
Unfortunately I still can't get the Shape map to work as I would like it to. It does not seem able to drive the slicer. See example screen shots below. In the first screen shot I have selected an LGA called "Mildura". But clicking on Mildura in the map does not cause it to be selected in the slicer to the right (which is what I am trying to achieve). In the second screen shot I have clicked on Mildura in the slicer and it selects the LGA Mildura as expected.

Does anyone else have ideas for this Shape Map question?
I'm trying to reverse the functionality of the way the shape map and slicer interact. Typically a user clicks on the slicer to cause a change to occur in the map. But I am wanting to click on the map which would cause the slicer to change.
Editing interactions as suggested by amitchandak does not work.

I'm having the same issue, want the map to filter the data in the slicers, but it does not. The funny thing is, there are some slicers in the store that has that behavor. For example: Smart Filter by OKVIZ.
