A couple of questions:
- which is the best visual to use to show a world map with specific locations?
- How are latitude and longtitude values assigned in the data set?

To show a world map with specific locations in Power BI, you can use the Filled Map visual.

You could use the Map visual and it has latitude and longitude values.
