Date and time filtering

Hi,

I'm looking for a way to show information for a user selectable period using a single datetime field.  This datetime field shows the date and time that a job was created in our job management system.    Using this datetime field I want to be able to select a datetime from and to range, i.e. the start date and the start time as well as the end date and end time.  There is a requirement to be able to filter on the time component given the nature of our reporting needs.  The existing Power BI stock visuals do not have a visual with this ability so I'm wondering if there is a way of doing this through DAX, custom visuals or otherwise..

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Wayde

  • Hi Ibendlin,

Perhaps I was not clear on what I'm looking for but for now I've solved my own issue by copying the datetime column to a new column in the same table, changing the datatype of the new column to a decimal with 4 decimal places and using the decimal number in the new column to filter out the data for the datetime from and to periods I need.  I will build a converter table that looks up the actual date and time the date time serial number represents to make it easier for the users.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Enable "Allow users to change filter types"  and teach your users how to use the filter pane. That will give you exactly the functionality you are looking for.
