"This SQL database has been disabled." error message
- 1 year ago
I opened a support ticket.
it's a known issue.
when you pause a capacity this disabled the SQL Databases, opening a ticket is the only option to enable them back. (for now)
pausing a capacity has multiple issues, mirrored cosmosdb databases is also impacted, you have to stop and restart the mirror after a pause of a capacity.
Hi Jerome22 ,
If you're seeing the message "This SQL database has been disabled", even as an admin, here are a few things to check:
- Fabric Capacity Status – make sure your capacity is active and not paused or suspended.
- Go to Admin Portal > Capacity Settings, and ensure the SQL Endpoint feature is enabled.
- Confirm that your workspace is assigned to a Fabric capacity (not just Pro).
- If everything looks fine, check the Microsoft Fabric Status Page – it might be a temporary service issue.
Let me know what you find – happy to help troubleshoot further!

Thanks for the update Jerome22 – that’s super helpful!
So just to summarize for others:
- Pausing a Fabric capacity disables SQL databases, and currently the only way to re-enable them is by opening a support ticket.
- This also affects mirrored Cosmos DB databases, which need to be manually restarted after a pause.
Definitely something to keep in mind when managing capacity!

Hi Jerome22 ,
Thanks for your response. Do you have a source saying it is a known issue?
I'm not seeing this on either of these known issues lists
