Cannot create Fabric Trial

I am new to Fabric and I would like to create a Fabric trial to try it. However, the option is not enabled. What could I do?

Also, I try to create one lakehouse from myworkspace, however, I got error on upgrading to Fabric trial. I tried to create support ticket but everytime it just redirect me back to my fabric screen from Microsoft site after I sign in.

  • Thanks all for the helping and provide me some useful links. I successfully enable Fabric trial this morning suddenly when I try to change the workspace type, although I did not do anything else.

    Hi kenlinpa ,

    Thanks for sharing this.

To create a Lakehouse you will first need a Fabric trial or access to a Fabric enabled workspace.

since you mentioned that the Start trial option isn't enable and creating a Lakehouse also fails when it attempts to upgrade to fabric trial, could you please confirm following-

    1. Are you using work account or personal accout?

    2. is the start trial option missing completely, or is it visible but disabled?

    3. Do you see any specific errror message when cretaing the lakehouse?

If you are using a work/school account , it may worth checking with your Fabric/Power BI admin whether Fabric trial is enabled for your tenant, as tenent setting can control wheter user are allowed to start a Fabric trial.

    Hi,

You cannot start a Fabric trial if:

    • You're using a personal Microsoft account instead of a work account or follow a different approach

you can try an alternative approach to reach the fabric trial :

step1 : From Azure portal open a free trial

step2 : Open Microsoft Entra ID

    step3:

    • In Microsoft Entra ID, select:

      Manage → Users

    • Click + New user.
    • Choose Create new user for free trial like [email protected]
    • Note down:

      • User Principal Name (UPN)
      • Password

step 4 : Assign Global admin privlidge to user

step 5: Assign owner role to subscription

step6: Sign in to Azure portal with new user account

step7: Sign up to fabric site : app.fabric.microsoft.com with new user account
