Fabric Chargeback Reporting
Hi team
I just wanted to checkout if in the Fabric Chargeback Reporting app (we have a user lever detail), so can we setup an alert which can tell for an individual user who consumed most of the CUs.
Is there an availability for this type of alert for which Workspace, which Item and which User reached maximum CUs?
Please help me with this.
Thanks!!

There is no out-of-the-box alert in the Fabric Chargeback app to automatically notify which user, item, or workspace consumed the most CUs.
What you can do today:
- The Fabric Chargeback app (preview) delivers visuals showing CU usage by workspace, item, and domain/subdomain, and offers a matrix with user breakdown, hovering reveals per user CU contributions
- You can filter, drill into workspace/item visuals, and export the report data (ex: to CSV/Excel) then manually analyze it to identify top consumers
- The app’s data refreshes once daily and isn’t real-time though manual refresh is possible
But, alerting? That’s handled via Data Activator:
- With the Fabric Capacity Metrics app plus Data Activator, you can set up alerts based on thresholds in CU usage, for ex: if CU consumption exceeds a certain limit
- You’d have to custom-build the logic, for instance: “Alert me when User X’s CU exceeds Y” or “Workspace/Item CU top X%”, you define the threshold and trigger.
My recommendation:
Since you're looking for “who consumed the most CUs,” go with a custom solution using the Metrics App’s semantic model, store the data in OneLake, and apply either Power Automate or Data Activator rules to generate alerts.

Hi Anonymous
Have you tried FUAM? It's a really extensive report that will give you a lot of new metrics to view.
This New Fabric Monitoring Tool Made My Job 10x Easier!
It shows CU by workspace, item etc and you can set up alerts using an event trigger activator - just right click the data point and add alert.
I hope this helps!

Hi Vinodh247, but I see there is no username or user or any of this kind of value in the dataset to create a report. I don't think so, the Capacity Metrics App has this information.
Please advise. - v-sdhruvCommunity Support
Hi Anonymous ,
Currently, FUAM does not include user-level CU metrics in its dataset. The Capacity metrics app lacks user identifiers like usernames or user IDs.You can set up alerts using event trigger activators:
- Right-click on a data point (e.g., workspace) and add an alert.
- Alerts can be configured for thresholds like “workspace CU exceeds Y
To achieve user-level CU tracking and alerting:
- Use the Fabric Capacity Metrics App to extract CU data.
- Store it in OneLake.
- Apply Power Automate or Data Activator rules for alerting
As suggested earlier by Vinodh247
Hope this helps!

Hi v-sdhruv
for the below steps you provided- Store it in OneLake.
- Apply Power Automate or Data Activator rules for alerting
I am not getting any way to store the data into one lake directly from the Capacity Metrics App and Chargeback
Also, I have no option from Dataflow and Copy Data to connect to the Semantic Model of Metrics App.I want to finalize this early. Is it 100% possible to set up the alert that will display the username who is responsible for the throttle, or has reached the threshold?

Hi Anonymous ,
User-level CU contributions can be seen via hover interactions, but usernames are not directly exposed in the dataset for automated reporting or alerting.
Therefore I suggested Custom setup using OneLake + Data Activator/Power Automate but requires manual data extraction and logic definition.

Hi @v-sdhruv, how can I build a custom report since there are no usernames available in the filter? And there's a username-related metric in the app.

Hi Anonymous ,
By hovering over the ‘?’ icon within each card on the report (shown below), you will see detailed definitions of the metrics that are displayed on the app. Then you need can enable Data Activator -
(Remember that you will need a premium Fabric workspace to enable this.)To set an alert-
goto->More options(...) ’ within your ‘CU % over time’ visual and then ‘Trigger action’ to set an alert to receive an emailThen here you can mention the recepient name to get an alert-
