The fix will be available Tuesday EOD

(2021-09-30 04:52:32)

We are porting the fix as a QFE, it got just checked in to DXT branch as of now.
We will follow the QFE process to port it to MSIT and PROD afterwards

We can keep following below issues:

Hidden fields and tables are visible in PBI workspace , but they are hidden in Desktop

Hidden Tables Showing in App Workspace When Set to Hidden in Desk

Having done what we can, now let's look forward to good news from the development team.

The functionality literally changed 2 days ago after several years of not showing the fields to end users.  It's critical the user does not see the fields, not from a data privacy concern, but from a cosmetic concern. It only causes unnecessary confusion and poor interaction.

agree. keep in mind that XMLA endpoint users will continue to see these tables and fields.

If you have a Pro license you can consider raising a Pro ticket at https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/support/pro/

We have a Premium Capacity, so I did indeed submit my ticket yesterday morning.  The Power BI Support page now mentions the issue at least with an "identified the root cause" line.

Interestingly, so far it appears the Excel connection does not show the hidden fields during this mishap.

That is by design.  Hiding fields or tables is purely cosmetic. Has no relation to data protection.
