Our organisation has recently upgraded all staff to Office 365 E5 licenses, whch includes Power BI Pro.
Users still have to download Power BI Desktop Pro from the Windows Store, and on the whole that allows them to work fine.
However, we have a few users who had already signed up to the Power BI Pro free trial (with their work email address). For those people, when they launch Power BI it still shows them as on the Trial version, even though they have downloaded the desktop version and in theory are fully licensed for that.
Here's an example of the message
I am kind of hoping that at the end of the trial (18 days, in this case) the user will automatically convert to the full version, but I may be being naive there. I'd rather not wait until the end of the trial to find out what happens next.
Does anyone know why they would still be showing as on the free trial, and what will happen at the end of that trial period?
Thanks very much,
Andy
Hi, @Anonymous
Has your license become full version yet, if not, I guess it is because the license has not been assigned to the user yet. Because after the license upgrade, you still need to assign the license to the user to make sure the user can use the service brought by the license.
One additional note: the free license will remain a free license after the trial ends.
To check if the license is assigned successfully, follow these steps: In 365 Admin Center, check Active Users, select User Name under Users, and right click menu Manage User Licenses.
Hope this helps.

Hi, @Anonymous
Please don't worry, if your license has been upgraded, then we can click View Account in the service to view the subscription in the account to check the account license.
If the E5 license can be seen in the user's subscription, then we can rest assured, because the license upgrade was successful.
I think it will automatically become a full version license after the trial period ends. If this is bothering you, you can also try to end the trial early, and then log in again, the license should be updated. If the trial license works fine, you may want to wait for the trial period to end.
Hope this helps.

@Anonymous The issue should resolve itself. You could check the Issues forum here:
https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues
And if it is not there, then you could post it.
If you have Pro account you could try to open a support ticket. If you have a Pro account it is free. Go to https://support.powerbi.com. Scroll down and click "CREATE SUPPORT TICKET".
Thanks for that Greg. Good to hear that it should resolve itself.
I couldn't see a specific answer to the question on the issues forum, so have posted there.
Have also raised a support tocket as suggested.
Thanks again.
