Dashboard Unable to Display Pinned Reports Through App in PowerBI Workspace

Cheched permission in each report, Dashboard, Audience in App, and workspace.

If just open the dashboard itself and it showed all the pinned reports as expected.

All the related reports can be openned as expected.

Added report into session of App, it shows the report data normally using each linked under the session.

When add the dashboard with the pinned report pages, it shows in the content session of the editting mode.

But when publish the app, the pinned report pages will not be displayed through the App.  (In Audience session, show icon is on.)

The pinned report is showing: "The report shown in this tile doesn't exist or you don't have permission to view it." But I can open  and display the reports and dashboard without any problem.  And it is not the Audience permission in the App. All content in the App is opened for all workspace users.

Need expert's help on this.
Thanks!

Hi @JohnnyTWW ,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

  • Even though you've set the audience permissions in the app to "open," double-check if the app user has access to the report in the underlying workspace. You may need to verify that the workspace permissions are set correctly for all relevant users.
  • Sometimes, cached data in the Power BI app can cause issues with viewing content after publishing. Try clearing the app's cache or reinstalling the app on the affected device. This ensures that any stale or outdated data is removed.
  • If the issue persists, republish the report and then re-pin the visuals or pages to the app. After republishing, refresh or update the app to ensure that the most recent version of the report is available for all users.
  • Double-check the tile configuration in the app. If the tile references an outdated or incorrect report version, you may need to reconfigure the tile to link it to the correct report.

I am the admin and I can see the data in edit mode or direct to the dashboard or reports.  I am trouble to understand why it will not show in the app.

I did unpublish and refresh. nothing change.

How to do the clearing app's cash?

Hi @v-aatheeque,

I'm also coming across the same issue on my end where dashboard's with pinned pages are appearing in the preview against the app but when published it doesn't flow through. It's very strange as no error is presented as well.

Against the preview before published to the app:

Against the App:

This issue has been replicated across different workspaces. I have contributor access to both the workspace and the report, but republishing and refreshing the app haven't helped. Could you assist with troubleshooting next steps?

Hi @DanielD_BEN ,

Whenever you publish a report from one workspace to another, it's necessary to refresh the Update App each time, as illustrated in the screenshot below.

Hope it helps !

Regards,
Abdul.

Hi @v-aatheeque,

Apologies, I didn't specify this properly in my previous comment. The App in the workspace where the report was originally created was experiencing the same issue. I had refreshed and updated the App each time I made changes to test if the pinned page visualisation against the dashboard was flowing through, but it was as I explained above. I attempted to publish the report to a different workspace and updated the app linked to that new workspace, but the same problem continues to occur.

Cheers,
Daniel

Thanks,

Hi @v-aatheeque,

I've managed to resolve this issue. There is a limitation with PBI Apps that has been noted within Microsoft documentation. I've noted the resolution steps below:

  • Dashboard tiles pointing to reports that aren't added to the app, or are added but hidden from the audience, won't work. These dashboard tiles display an error: "The report shown in this tile doesn’t exist or you don’t have permission to view it."
  • If you only add dashboards with report tiles/pinned pages to your app, the app doesn't display anything to your audience. Be sure to add the reports related to added dashboards and make them visible/not visible to the audience and select Allow access to hidden content in the 'Advanced settings' of the App.

Thanks for your assistance.

Cheers,
Daniel
