Publish to intarnet

Dear All,

I would like to share my dashboard at the intarnet webpage for user who can access to intarnet but without login (they don't have Microsoft / Power Bi account). I'm not sure whether any of my steps get wrong or what the link I created need login so the user can view, please help:

1. I have download & installed the Power BI report server (trial version) and together with the BI desktop server version;

2. By using the desktop server version i have open the pbix which was created previsouly and saved the file at report server side;

3. At report server I have publish the dashboard to PowerBi.com(Pro License) and publish to web.

4. And save the link at the intarnet webpage.

The link can be opened ... but it require user to login and way to solve it.

Please give a hand. Thanks a lot.

Thanks.

@eRic_LaU ,

you have to check the security page of report first.

the steps are : hover to report -> click three dots icon for More information -> Manage -> Security -> assign "Browser" role to domain users

(i am used to set domain users to "Browser", but you can also set users individually.)

※ if you implement RLS in your report, you have to set RLS to users, too. referenced here.

if you want to add pbi report to your website, you can add an iframe and follow the document at step 8.

@eRic_LaU ,

PBIRS is my solution too. the term for on-premise solution is not "deploy", it's "upload".

If your role is system administrator or content manager, you can upload your .pbix to PBIRS through:

  1. PBI Web Portal: you can see an top-arrow icon (upload button) on the bar from this picture
  2. PBI Desktop for RS: you can follow this document

Dear Vanchy_Liao,

I have saved the .pbix to PBIRS already, but how can i create the link and saved the link at my intarnet webpage? I can't see the option, anymore details on how i create the link at PBIRS? Thanks a lot.

Hi @eRic_LaU ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric community forum.

The "Publish to web" feature is available in the Power BI Service, but it is not supported in Power BI Report Server. If you are using Power BI Service and have published your report there, the "Publish to web" option allows you to generate a public link that can be shared. However, note that this feature enables public access, and users will not need a Power BI account to view the report.

To share your Power BI dashboard publicly without requiring login:

  1. Use "Publish to Web" in Power BI Service:

    • Open the report in Power BI Service (PowerBI.com).
    • Click on FilePublish to web and generate a public link.
    • This link can be embedded in your intranet webpage for users to view without logging in.
  2. Ensure Permissions Are Correct:

    • For Power BI Service, ensure the "Publish to web" feature is enabled in your organization's tenant settings. Contact your Power BI administrator if you cannot access this option.
    • For Power BI Report Server, sharing links will require proper access permissions set via the web portal. However, this will still prompt users for authentication unless anonymous access is configured, which may not be supported in all environments.
  3. Test the Link:

    • After generating the link, test it in an incognito window or a browser where you are not logged into any Microsoft account. This step ensures the link is accessible without prompting for login.

Important Note:

  • "Publish to web" is not recommended for sensitive or confidential data, as the report becomes publicly accessible. If data security is a concern, consider using Power BI Embedded for secure, login-free sharing or consult your administrator for an alternative approach.

if still you have problems on it please feel free to let us know !

Thanks for your reply. The data i using was sensitive and not suppose to publish to public, it seem PBIRS can share the dashboard to intarnet which i can't, so i want to know what's the problem is my step wrong or what... thanks for your help
